BATTERIES and POWER ADAPTERS:
How much will it cost? - Depending on the make and model, batteries and adapters usually cost about $49~$149, which is considerably less than what the local competition charges.
How can you charge less? - Our markup is less.
What about universal power adapters? - They cost about the same, but they don't always connect properly, if at all. Plus the lack of quality mentioned below can result in permanent damage to your notebook, especially if it's not providing enough power. We do it right and make sure the adapter we source for you is the right one for the job.
What about quality? - All rechargeable battery packs are manufactured in ISO9001 certified facilities, with testing capabilities that meet CE and UL standards. Batteries and power adapters are guaranteed to meet or exceed the manufacturer's original specifications. Our distributor's high inventory turn rates guarantees fresh products.
How long will a battery last? - Under normal conditions, the life expectancy of a rechargable battery is generally between 500~800 charge-discharge cycles, or about one and a half to three years for the average user. A decline in running time means your battery is dying. When a 2 hour battery only works for an hour, it's time for a new one.
Warranty - Power adapters and batteries are covered by the manufacturer's warranty. They also guarantee that the battery or charger will meet or exceed OEM specifications.
Sounds good, so how do I place an order? - Just call us with the make, series, and model number of your notebook. Look on the bottom for the model number. These are special order products, so we will need a down payment, or pre-payment. Cash or cheque only.
When will it be ready? - We usually visit our distributors at least once a week, so your order is usually ready for pick-up within a few days.
BATTERY CARE: (rechargeables)
Storage - If you're not going to use batteries for a month or more, store them in a clean, dry, cool place away from any metal. NiCad, NiMH and Li-Ion batteries discharge during storage, so perform the new battery break-in procedure again before use. Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) batteries must be kept fully charged during storage. Use a trickle charger. Do not store SLA batteries for more than 3 months without a charger.
Break-In Procedure - New batteries must be fully charged before use. To reach maximum capacity, fully charge and discharge new batteries 2 to 4 times.
My charger shows a full charge, but it's not working... What's wrong? - This "False Peak" condition is common during first time battery use. The charger may indicate that it is fully charged when it is not. Leave the battery on the charger for about an hour, remove it, then return it to the charger immediately. The battery will resume normal charging.
Preventing the Memory Effect - Fully charge and then discharge batteries at least once every two to three weeks. Li-Ion batteries do not suffer from the memory effect. Most notebook batteries are Li-Ion.
Cleaning - Clean contacts with a cotton swab and alcohol.
Use Your Battery - Use batteries at least once every 2~3 weeks. If a battery has not been used for a long time, perform the new battery break-in procedure above.
Maximum Notebook Battery Performance - Optimize the appearance and performance of Windows, and power management settings. Power management can be a trade off: when you conserve power, you may loose performance. The power management system can run the processor at a slower speed, dim the screen, spin down the hard drive when not in use, and invoke sleep mode when inactive. Your notebook manual should provide details, or we can optimize your system for you.
