MICROSOFT'S CONFUSING PROGRAM NAMES EXPLAINED:
Outlook Express / Windows Mail / Outlook - Outlook Express is a basic email program that came with older versions of Windows. Windows Mail is a basic email program that comes with Windows Vista; it replaces Outlook Express. Outlook is an advanced email, calendar and contact management program that comes with some Microsoft Office Suites.
Windows Explorer / Internet Explorer - Windows Explorer is the program you use to explore files and folders on your computer, while Internet Explorer is the program you use to explore the Internet, or world wide web (www). This is also known as browsing the Internet, that's why programs that are used to surf the Internet are also known as browsers.
Notepad / WordPad /Word - Notepad is a basic text editor program that's included with Microsoft Windows. It has no formatting or spellchecker. WordPad is a word processor program included with Microsoft Windows. It has standard formatting, but no spellchecker. Word is Microsoft's advanced word processor program that is included with Microsoft's Works Suites and Microsoft's Office Suites.
